We need political strategy on the left that actually brings results. We need to stop giving people any credit for creating vibe based policy that won’t actually help people. We need to stop giving people credit for blaming other people for their toothless policy not working.

Ehh I disagree with a lot of the things in that thread. First of all, there is no real wealth behind a lot of the wealth we talk about. E.g. Elon can't sell his Tesla stocks at current market price. Second - the reality is, housing benefits, employment, budget are all intrinsically related to both tax policies and employment policies. If the financial infra of a country wouldn't be based solely on speculation & worker abuse, if the tax policy was fair (i.e. things that create billionaires), you also wouldn't have housing problems, budget deficit, triple-job-hustle-life and high unemployment. In other words, OP is right. We don't need to have billionaires.

You can’t just magically create fair tax policy. You cant trust the government to magically allocate wealth fairly. That’s not how power works.

I would suggest trying to make any governmental change that would negatively affect someone with much more wealth/power than you and see how difficult it is Then magnify that by how hard it would be to take large quantities of their money

Then look at revolutions where this did somehow occur by just destroying everything and giving absolute power to someone else. And ask if you want that.

TLDR it’s cute to say you don’t want billionaires but we should have higher standards as a political movement such that our politicians are doing things that actually get results. Most of Mamdanis platform is near impossible to implement. I want politicians with real strategies and real results.

Ok so this is about idealism vs realism. I disagree again. Politician's job is just as much to lead as it is to set policies. I want my politicians to talk about north stars even if they're hard to implement... ... on which I disagree again - political power is narrative. Narrative can be backed by money, but it can also be backed by an angry mob - see Trump, he won with far less campaign donations than Harris.

Ok this post was how I’m tired of fairy tales from the left and no results, but you’re welcome to your own opinion.
