Most "open source" projects aren't really open. They're public code repositories with closed contributor circles. Real open source is when strangers can show up, contribute meaningfully, and get recognized for it. Everything else is just free-to-view code. Or sometimes they are actually a funnel for the entreprise or closed source version of the software. Nothing bad with that, I actually like it, it’s a good way for brand awareness, kind of freemium model. Agree with your take and like how @scoutgamexyz helps change that.
