Looking for a better translation of the French concept âdĂ©positionnementâ to replace âcancelâ. Itâs not about punishment. Itâs about shifting men away from the center, questioning default dominance, and making space for others. In English, I propose: âdecenteringâ "unseating" ??? https://x.com/Dr_Zoe_/status/1920886794242994574

depositing does sound better than cancellation. cancel culture is a result of slow moving systems, ppl wouldn't feel the need to gang up if they weren't forming a consensus that's "not official" it's good there's recognition it can be bad, but it's also needed in some cases imo

You think the « depositionning » is a good translation?

I believe that's probably closest đ deposition instead of cancel as a softer touch is a good move imo cancel culture has become so normalised and it doesn't really help anything sticky subject tho

yeah 'cancel' is now used like 'woke' by our contenders i was just not sure of the understanding of 'deposition' in english in french it's also an invented word she is the first to use it as I know so a new word can be fine in english too but i'd like to be sure it does sounds great
