Looking for a better translation of the French concept “dépositionnement” to replace “cancel”. It’s not about punishment. It’s about shifting men away from the center, questioning default dominance, and making space for others. In English, I propose: “decentering” "unseating" ??? https://x.com/Dr_Zoe_/status/1920886794242994574

depositing does sound better than cancellation. cancel culture is a result of slow moving systems, ppl wouldn't feel the need to gang up if they weren't forming a consensus that's "not official" it's good there's recognition it can be bad, but it's also needed in some cases imo

You think the « depositionning » is a good translation?

I believe that's probably closest 😅 deposition instead of cancel as a softer touch is a good move imo cancel culture has become so normalised and it doesn't really help anything sticky subject tho

yeah 'cancel' is now used like 'woke' by our contenders i was just not sure of the understanding of 'deposition' in english in french it's also an invented word she is the first to use it as I know so a new word can be fine in english too but i'd like to be sure it does sounds great

I think it sounds more official or formal, certainly sounds more French 😆
