no its still an airdrop and so was previous claim, what happened last time is someone called a contract that was being trialled to claim everyones degen at the same time or close to it no one knows why they did it, some mfs just be like that

Yes, it’s all just “income” in the US, but at least with a claim mechanic the recipient gets to choose (1) if they actually want to receive the token and (2) at what price they want to receive it (in the sense that the recipient can try to game the market and claim when the price is low).
