The U.S. gun death rate was 10.6 per 100,000 people in 2016, the most recent year in the study, which used a somewhat different methodology from the CDC. That was far higher than in countries such as Canada (2.1 per 100,000) and Australia (1.0), as well as European nations such as France (2.7), Germany (0.9) and Spain (0.6). 🤗 https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2025/03/05/what-the-data-says-about-gun-deaths-in-the-us/

these numbers are misleading for a few reasons population count and culture are important factors what about gun related crime not just deaths? I know anecdotally in Australia, if you mess around with the wrong crowds these days, you're much more likely to see a gun. I've had them offered at very cheap prices

I'm not sure what is misleading here. Saying guns will resolve non-gun violence? (In this case the gun was false) Or looking for non-letal firearm data? Here you go https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_violence_in_the_United_States Also, this isn't an "europoooor" problem 😓 https://warpcast.com/konohime.eth/0x96d25ddb

my mistake i read your first cast wrong i am redacted but i don't think that data shows what you think, for instance it could be assumed that more suicide is by gun and accidents are also included in that rate whilst in countries with stricter gun laws it has only became worse. can point out data from 10 years ago all day but it doesn't change facts tbh the world is safer if you can defend yourself. firearms are an equaliser

Could be yes, but tbh I think more guns = more guns violence. Correlation between gun sales and death / violence is easy here ^^ I'm not sure if allowing more guns here will bring more peace. We gave more weapons to our cops here = more dead / more people injured. And still, two kidnapping at daylight in 10 days? When Philippines authorised guns for civilians to "get rid of drugs addict", we saw how it ended 😬 https://apnews.com/article/philippine-drug-war-manila-duterte-762f5a75be1afaf374dc9d7e37afa10b This is some examples of a social issues which only got worst with weapons. System needs to be changed yes, but we all need to chill out first, without guns (and mostly, without fear)
