Misconceptions about Swiss summer habits and jumping in the river: 

No, we don’t actually commute using the river 🤣 

But due to the moving nature of a river, if you stay in for more than 3min you have to bring your stuff with you (otherwise it will be many many kilometres behind). 

That’s why we all have a waterproof bag where we chuck our stuff in and float.

Public transport is amazing and well connected so you can get out anywhere you want and easily continue your commute back home via bus/tram/train.

There are designated areas called Badi, some free some cost ~10 CHF and have bathrooms, restaurants, etc.

For the adventurous, you can just hop in and float, though getting out isn’t always graceful 😂

But in general: only enter where others are entering and leave when they’re leaving. That usually means that stretch is safe, and beyond that it could get pretty rough
