I think channels should be gated by default (e.g Towns). I know Merkle won’t do it, so maybe it’s time to remove them entirely from the FC app, decentralize + let clients experiment.

P.S. Right now, they feel more like a distraction, disguised as "community" building playground, but really just topics.

there are different cases to have channels, public squares like /food can still work similarly to a hashtag

but specific community channels would benefit from gating I think, may reduce the need for projects to have discord too
