Me too. I'm here to find interesting people/ content, and only getting notifications (which I ended up turning off) of high followed accounts skew that. I'd be curious to see what the current code is for these recommendations. How much more effort could it be to add a weight that recommends active sub 10k follower accounts?

Ofc I agree, I think the argument I’ve seen @dwr.eth say is that most people don’t seek out new follows even though they say they do and even if they do the majority just want to follow the midwit high # account so it’s not worth the eng effort

I’d personally opt into weekly notifications for any account in the top 10 on Tuesday that have less than 1K followers tho

Here's my thinking. Split the difference. They should be recommending one high follower account (10k+) and one not so high (sub 10k, but plus 1k). Both are representations of active casters, but different enough to account for variety.

Better yet, highlight 5 accounts weekly. Showcase them the same way they do tipping Tuesday. Under them, they can display high follower accounts who are following them (similar to how it looks when you visit someone's profile).

Point I'm making is there's more than one way to go about it that opens the discovery process up more and keeps it eclectic. The one high value account recommendation is a box they need to break out of when approaching this.
