Mostly it’s a “let’s do other things except long form writing” problem for me They tried to be twitter, they tried to be podcasts, now they’re trying to be short form video. I think doubling down on long form writing is much more relevant to their goals than LARPing as nerd TikTok

Thanks. Rich answer Cameron. And the tragedy of our times lies completely therein Yes, you can make something valuable...but also, when you take money, and now also need to make outsized (100x) returns on that thing, so you also need to do crazy stupid shit I'm riffing, I don't actually know their story, but it fits

The biggest good "sign of the times" (to my mind) though of the moment - and signifier of health, is that the switch from Substack to <what's next> is not locking you in. Good for you, not for their investors...but that's a WIN! Again, riffing (clumsily)...thanks for humouring me @cameron

It's the real promise of an FC "open protocol" Do a small simple thing, and keep the development scale low enough (while providing leveraged value..."because network") that unlocks things. We need a healthy, broad, "market place ideas" of working software. Not winner take all "shit shows"
