Why are we investing in video? I've been spending a lot of time recently talking to users. Our goal is to figure out how we can get people to invite their friends to Farcaster. If we can solve this, Farcaster will grow. When asking why people aren't inviting their friends to Farcaster, the overwhelming reason is they spend most of their time on TikTok / Instagram / YouTube (no X / Twitter). So, video.

@dwr.eth depends on what user group you are targeting. Usually overlap between tiktok/insta and X is relatively less. Which userbase is Farcaster targeting is a main question. Second, I as a video creator create videos on Tiktok/ Insta because there is a set of audience who only prefer short videos and dont have the brainspace to read through text. Also any insights on who you asked this question to?

there are a set of people who spend time on twitch, so should Farcaster cater to Twitch audience vs Tiktok audience? There are nuances. I dont think just adding video is a way to attract users (hoping they would invite their friends). Because I am already drenched in video content from Insta/ Tiktok and YT. Farcaster and X for that matter are for this set of people - "not brain dead yet" compared to insta/ tiktok where users switch their brain cells off. If i belong to that second category, I want that culture on farcaster (brain dead stuff). Even then me switching depends on Farcaster poaching main video creators on tiktok/ insta/ YT

I still think spending lots of time and resources on mini apps is the way to go vs thinking of video features. Let the builders come and build mini apps. If they are fun to use, I will never hesitate to invite my friends to use that mini app without even understanding what Farcaster is
