In some parts of asia you can see them sell you credit cards at shopping malls. Those are worth sometimes $50 a customer (ok, the amount may vary to local rates but this is how it’s funded). 

So, there’s demand to get customers and a lead generation fee. Just that in the US, it’s pretty sorted via blogs, forums, etc. 

Affiliate marketing / lead gen is huge business (a lot of crypto people from the early days may have also been affiliate marketing folk)

Ya I remember learning about Red Ventures own the points guy. Even Nerd wallet started with the premise of selling us travel and points back credit cards
