Buying a new MacBook this week. Def doing M4. Was thinking 32 gb ram, 512 ssd should be more than enough Does anyone have strong opinions on the air vs pro? My current one is a pro I bought 6 years ago. Seems like there’s a “lightweight / aesthetic” argument to the air which might be worth thinking about

get a thinkpad x1 carbon (maybe even gen 11 or lower) for $450 or so and launch pop os there! it's time to try! https://blog.borodutch.com/i-switched-to-linux-as-my-main-machine/ source: used to drop $5500 annually for the new macbook, no longer do so

This is also a good way to go. Ironic, but windows is maybe not a bad os (I recently had to grab a similarly cheap thinkpad - because clients are running code and wsl in locked down envs, and my last windows was 3.1). Linux on the laptop is also quite robust but never tried popos - I’m either Fedora or Ubuntu all the way
