Ok, so I'm going to share this experience because I think it's important. I recently completed the KYC process for the Moxie retrogrant. I did this for the Burr Frens poker club. If this were up to me, I would not have completed this. I was not informed that I'd have to submit my passport and utility bill in order to receive this grant. Let's dive in π«‘ First off, it's through gatenox - idk much about them, but let's assume they are a reputable and secure site

Thanks for going through this. Just FYI moxie and our team do not have access to any of the info you provided. Itβs similar to putting your credit card into a website. The merchant does not get the card number, they just know it was approved or denied. The KYC is required for grants under the regulations of the countries moxie dao operates in. The process moxie has is the same as optimism and other major retro grants in the industry. Itβs standard practice for grants.

This process was not made clear to many of us, as you can tell by the surprise. The communication of this process was not great. I, along with many others, have never applied for a grant before. Just because its standard for optimisim and others, doesn't make it KNOWN. Going forward, I think it would be good to clearly communicate the expectations before people apply.

Thanks. Thatβs good feedback. We put this on the pages and forms everyone had to agree to when submitting their applications. What do you think we should do better / different next time?

I think you should have made this clear in the casts that everyone saw. Nowhere does this say "a valid driver's license will not be accepted" Nowhere does this say "your residence will need to be validated by your tax return or utility bill to a 3rd party site" Just because you said it on a form one time doesn't make it well communicated or clear to the community. Whenever I cast information, I make sure to highlight the most important parts. The most important parts of this KYC process felt hidden.

Thanks. Noted. In most cases a driver license is accepted. Iβm think the KYC provider rejected certain states and types of license only. Iβm not sure why. Utility bill like a mobile phone bill is pretty standard on these sorts of things. To prove residential address. The image I showed above everyone had to manually change to βyesβ to agree to. Again, sorry we didnβt make it more clear in casts.
