** Change Lives, Then The World ** (my /firstdraft )
I understand why we use: make money, then friends, as the current tag line for Farcaster. I don't hate, but I don't love it.
This post & story from @katekornish is why. There are numerous other reasons & stories, but this one is at the forefront this morning.
This is why we are here in web3, using blockchain technology, and caring about decentralization, right? This is web3 with heart. Isn't that why we are here? We want 100 of these stories, 1000 of these stories, 1 million of these stories stretched across the globe. This was made possible by @nicholas permissionlessly building @crowdfund on top of Farcaster, @katekornish investing her time and effort to build trust. 165 Farcasters trusting Kate, but also knowing the public ledger was there.
There are lots of important questions & concerns about FC--too many selfies, too boring, too much slop, algo this, algo that--we all get it. But are we building community on a mission to build a new & better world?
There are probably 25 stories of building & support that say we are. @jacek & $degen, the FC team with Rewards, /gmfarcaster & /los-fomos with web3 media, @bertwurst.eth getting us rolling with some crowdfunds early on, & many more for another time.
When we say, 'we are early,' I think this is part of what we mean. There's concerns about casino, misguided efforts, distraction, and noise, but we can see where we are headed.
That's why I'm sticking with my analogy of Farcaster as a community on a mission to build a new world.
And that means we are closer to 'change lives, then the world' than we are 'make friends, then money.' No hate or shade on that, just thinking and refining what we are really about. 4 replies
