Mark Rothko donated some of his work to the Tate Britain in hopes that it would be displayed alongside JWM Turner (the great British painter of all time imho). His wish came true!! Especially in Turner’s later work(1830-50s) he experimented more and more with landscapes which were verging on abstractions.

Someone told me that many of these Rothkos are « vertical landscapes ». You ever hear that?
