where do people cast without channels!?!??? just on their own timeline like a psychopath!?!??? or where do people search&find topics they are looking for like /movies /books /food /retrogaming /poker /art /cryptoart /streetart /memes and so on...afaik there are hundreds or maybe thousands of channels people paid 25 bucks for to open them up...this would be awful to just delete them all...i just recently opened up one myself and planned on getting another one too but now i'm scared to do so...farcaster without channels will be a less nicer place that's for sure...and what are all those projects saying who built a huge community around their channels like /degen, /nerd, /bizarrebeasts or /glanker f.e.??? @jacek @suffuze.eth @bizarrebeast @yerbearserker maybe we will see channels live on via mini-apps...better than nothink/killing them completely; https://warpcast.com/dwr.eth/0xd7e9b71b

There’s no additional benefit to casting in channels right now.

I am in agreement on @siadude on this one. There is perhaps not a protocol benefit channels, but certainly both users and owners like to cast in them to organize thoughts and share specific ideas. I also find great benefit in having specific buckets like /bizarrebeasts and /bizarrebeastsart to differentiate the various aspects of the project.
