I’m really not particularly a Beatles person, but I so loved mrianleslie’s
John + Paul: A Love Story in Songs, which is out this week. I found it completely absorbing, and painfully moving. And, actually, it has rather turned me into a bit of a Beatles person now! Leslie’s great gift is to combine a probing intellectual curiosity and acuity with proper, unscoffy emotional intelligence. The result is a serious and beautifully written investigation into the nature of creativity (a recurrent interest of his) and – as the subtitle attests – a true love story.

I went to my first concert when I was 16 and it was the Beatles
