yes, however, it necessitates that the audience have a firm understanding of what a premise is. otherwise they just think you're the dumb one.

Except in most cases the "audience" (no matter who constitutes it) is usually "dumb" and you can almost always guarantee your way into bullshitting out of the situation with word salad like that.
