ITAP of my morning outing. Finally got my rifle zeroed in, first shots through it today. Built from parts - felt satisfying everything worked correctly and was good to go. Hope everyone's having an awesome Saturday!

Enjoy - target shooting is a wonderful Zen if you're in the right mindset 🙏 Curious to learn more about the weapon specs

It really is, I love shooting for this kind of "meditation". Nothing but you and the target - much like when I'm out walking with the camera, can empty the mind easily. So it's not a real crazy build since NY has strict rifle laws and this was my first build ever. * cries in no suppressor and 10 round magazines * The bipod is an "Amazon" cheap find and also have a Streamlight Protac 2 attached. The trigger was also upgraded with JP springs to reduce the pull to about 4lb-ish. I just ordered another lower, probably will build a hunting rifle next.

What was your purpose for buying all of the parts and building yourself - save money, optimize performance?

Buying pre-built here is a crapshoot due to the regulations, but also found it was the best way to learn how it all works and be able to fix when things need to be replaced. Like if you find a good pre-built you have to get it worked on to have the non-compliant parts removed (gunsmith keeps those parts as well). Didn't help the budget, especially counting cost of the tools.

Thanks for explaining - much easier here in Florida 🙏 I was able to just buy this from a local gun store a few years back (discontinued, here's the web archive page) https://web.archive.org/web/20200324030739/https://www.springfield-armory.com/products/saint-ar-15-pistol-300-blk/

That's a nice 300 black build! And reminded me of another restriction - we can't have AR pistol builds. I would love one of these for home defense.

That's what this is set up for. Frangible ammo to reduce chance of over-penetration. I love what the 300 BLK round makes possible.

If you can't do short barrel within the local regulations, I'm not sure if it's worth it unless you just want more stopping power
