Making Farcaster useful Imagine each NFT community had a group of mods. And when those mods like your post, you get a custom NFT. Now each community can optimize a different metric besides popularity! For example, in a proof-of-workout community you must post workout selfies to earn workout credit NFTs. @dwr.eth @v

Other ideas for useful NFT communities 1) proof-of-skill: complete a technical exam in a given area to earn a proof-of-skill NFT. 2) proof-of-diet: post videos of eating healthy food to earn NFTs & get social reinforcement. In each case moderators review the submissions, maintain the leaderboard, and award the NFTs.

The fundamental shift is from spending millions on one NFT to sending millions of NFTs for one dollar. This is now easy on Solana with compressed NFTs but may be feasible on Ethereum too. An NFT is then a collectible — a free little digital tchotke, similar to a like. People earn & award billions of them each day.

I like proof of skill, specially when I’m self learning how to code

“Proof-of-skill” is an important part of @mosaicnetwork, what I’ve been calling the Web3 Quora. NFT communities can use skills based attributes to both signal to the outside world of their proven expertise, as well as a measure of the network’s collective value.

Distributed moderation makes the same possible and doesn’t elevate the mod role to anything infallible. Every member of the community has a vote, either: posts earns x-percent of likes from card-holding members for admittance, x-number of dislikes for removal, etc.

Proof of skill for technical skills/quals eg medicine, gets you disrupting current regulatory mechanisms pretty fast.

Today I listened to @dwr.eth’s talk at a16z crypto and I got more and more the sense that I am still using @farcaster wrong, i.e. using it as a twitter complementary. But the right way is not obvious to me. I have been tinkering a lot about proofs-of-anything (in my case: purpose).
