Random thought: Even if one day we learn how to upload our brains to “the cloud” - doing so wouldn’t actually extend our lives. Because an uploaded version of your brain will never be “you.” You can’t transfer your consciousness to it. So, it would only exist as another version of you.

I don’t know if I agree with that premise. The decisions I made 5 seconds ago impact what’s happening right now. The same couldn’t be said for a computer that had my memories and beliefs up until it was created.

Sure, but since “you” change constantly and trying to preserve “you“ is impossible to actually capture which I think is your point, then what gets stored is irrelevant which is my basic point.
