Things You Should Know Before Getting Married.
Most People tend to ignore number 4, 5 and 9
1. You marry their habits, not just their smile.
If they’re lazy, rude, secretive, or selfish while dating, marriage will only magnify it. Pay close attention to patterns, not promises.
2. Arguments aren’t the problem.
How you both handle arguments is. If one of you shuts down, gets disrespectful, or refuses accountability, marriage will feel like war, not partnership.
3. Your peace is more important than the wedding.
People spend months planning a one-day event and forget to prepare for the lifetime after it. Marry for peace, not pictures.
4. You don’t fix people with love.
If they’re broken, bitter, or emotionally unavailable, your love won’t heal them. They have to want to grow and show it through consistent action.
5. Love is not enough.
Marriage needs respect, patience, and maturity. Passion fades. What keeps you together is how you treat each other when things get hard.
6. Sex won’t save a broken bond.
You can’t use intimacy to patch disrespect, poor communication, or resentment. If your connection is weak, sex becomes a temporary distraction not a solution.
7. The wrong person can drain your entire life.
A bad marriage will ruin your peace, slow your progress, and poison your purpose. Choosing wrong is more dangerous than being single forever.
8. Compatibility matters more than feelings.
Love without shared values, goals, and beliefs leads to confusion and chaos. You need alignment not just butterflies.
9. Don’t just marry someone you love, marry someone you trust to raise your kids.
If you were gone tomorrow, would your child be safe, loved, and well-guided? Your partner will shape your legacy. Choose wisely.
10. Marriage magnifies who you are.
If you’re selfish, marriage will make it worse. If you’re patient, it will grow. Don’t expect the ring to change you. It only reveals what was already there. 1 reply
