Has anyone anywhere been more wrong (other than Peter Zeihan hehe)?

Marcel Déat, although he was probably intentionally wrong https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Why_die_for_Danzig%3F

Interesting. I read a lot of books of WW2 but that name doesn't ring a bell to me. Must be a small insignificant player on the global stage at a time?..

Insignificant on the global scale, and probably not even that influential in France, but he's kind of an epitome of being wrong as far as the idea of appeasement is concerned.

In the same regard, Chamberlain (and then Churchill) were both really really wrong.

Yeah, but Chamberlain’s being wrong seems to fall into the pretty common category of “I’d rather not deal with that” kind of evil, while the fact that Déat later collaborated with the Nazis gives it yet another dimension.

Chamberlain was an appeaser too… here’s the September 30, 1938 quote: "My good friends, this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honour. I believe it is peace for our time. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Go home and get a nice quiet sleep."
