Moldova just can’t catch a break: “Operation Overload focuses on specific geopolitical targets, with an emphasis on six countries: France, Germany, Moldova, Poland, Ukraine, and the United States.”

“Russian propagandists' laser focus on Moldova became abundantly clear during the 2024 presidential elections. The first round of voting, which coincided with a referendum on European integration, is particularly telling. Of the 482 sources reporting on Moldova's elections during the voting and counting process, 150 Telegram channels were compromised. Their activities were directly linked to a Kremlin effort to influence the media, with state-backed sources starting disinformation campaigns and attempting to manipulate public opinion. In effect, every third source covering Moldova’s presidential elections was unreliable.” https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2025/07/02/moldova-is-the-testing-ground-for-russias-disinformation-machine-a89651

There needs to be a counter-narrative site that's credible for journalists. Like what are the narratives that the propoganda machine is pumping out? It's gotta be pretty well known. And if fact-checked probably 99% would be BS? Then journalists could use that to set a baseline of BS in the news. Kinda like a re-equilibration of the infosphere.

Yeah, but nobody reads that. And it's faster to spread a narrative than to fact-check it, so it's always a losing battle. I'd hope any serious journalist can actually spot the BS narrative without such a website, even in the US. At least the Kremlin propaganda is like 5 items recycled for different contexts, so the red flags are rather obvious if you pay any attention.

This is the battle of our lifetimes. In many respects, we've already lost. I used to believe that crypto could save us (verifiable sources, etc) but people just don't give af and when people are the mode of transmission, a valid signature ain't feasible. Any ideas here?
