Threads is now 2 years old. It has 350 million monthly active users. X is quite steady at 600 million MAUs. Here on Farcaster we're looking at MAUs in the 200,000 range.

Threads is gaining quickly, while X is plateauing. Threads cares about trending topics (very important, people like to babble, and thats why real time discussion matters). It is a key X engagement.

We know for a fact since Elon took over X, in the EU, there is 15% decline in usage. 

BTW, Apple just joined Threads. 4.8 million followers. Their X account has 9.8M followers. How do we get more brands on Farcaster?

Farcaster MAUs hit ~200k in March 2025 but are now declining, with negative growth rates signaling retention challenges.

The priority should be human user growth and retention through improved onboarding and engagement. While bots and brands can enhance the ecosystem, they work best as amplifiers of existing active communities rather than primary growth drivers.
