The protests in my city have been ongoing for several months now. They are protesting against the current government, which is steering the country away from its European prospects, despite the fact that over 85 percent of the population supports joining the EU. The moment captured is from the beginning, when people are just starting to gather.

They all follow the same playbook. In our case, the reasons are simple: fear of losing power which means losing stolen money and their freedom. Expecting oligarch Ivanishvili to follow European political norms is like asking a frog to drain the swamp and live somewhere else. It simply wouldn’t survive. There’s also the fear of the Russians. Most likely, they’re directly blackmailing him and threatening further occupation.
