I found out more about the faces in the trees on the path near where I live. It's an art installation by the city of Longmont called 101 Faces by sculptor Jerry Boyle in 2004. There are less than that now as some of the faces were in the creek or in trees that fell in the flood of 2013, but I think I've found about 30 of them so far. The one on the left is on a spike, but most are mounted on the trees. I would have loved to have seen the ones in the creek. A neighbor told me that you could see them in the water from the bridges that cross the creek. The idea behind it is to prompt people to look more at the flora and fauna around them.

Goofy faces can be found hidden in the forest. More and more leaves are growing and I think some of them remain hidden. But I've found quite a lot. For the past week, I've stopped hunting for new ones.

Why do you think it's sad? Did you read my original cast that I quoted? It's a description of the art installation that was commissioned by the city for a public art installation where an artist put 101 faces in the forest, creek and hillsides of a public park. The idea behind it was to prompt people to notice the flora and fauna around them. Many of them were destroyed in a flood in 2013, but supposedly 87 remain and I decided to try and find all of them, documenting them with photographs.
