I feel like this is a common sentiment these days because of a few reasons: 1. The effort-to-reward ratio has gotten smaller. 2. Principles aren’t being rewarded. Instead, grift or connections are which makes builders feel sidelined. 3. There’s serious user fatigue. After years of testing products and apps, it’s wild how none of them have been able to retain their user base, even though everyone spends so much on growth. 4. Creators are burnt out, and so are builders because the promise of decentralisation is gone and we’ll only see it getting more centralised with time. Which means jobs are a safer bet than building independent start ups/ brands. 5. No amount of fresh talent or new users will fix this. If we’d focused on retention and long-term goals, this might not have happened. What can we do now? Honestly, I think collectively we can just make better sections. Self custody also means we choose the meta running here. We chose to let infofi and prediction markets win and now we pay for it by spinning around in an infinite hell of grift, gamblers and endless yapping about this grift.
