These pictures are just 1 year apart. I know y’all have been watching me work out for the past 2 years. In that time, I’ve lost 15 kilos of weight and so, so, so much guilt, shame and pain caused by my body image issues. I’ve always identified as a pretty girl. When I first moved to north east India, I was in debt, had lost all motivation to live, was lonely af and was struggling with severe PCOS and more. Then @songra.eth approached me to help him design a mental health app. The thesis was that all mental health diseases are actually metabolic disorders of the brain. This was based on the metabolic psychiatry principle that glucose spikes, poor metabolism, and bad gut health could be the reason behind many mood disorders and that maybe tracking your biomarkers could help fix that. I became patient zero. We never finished building the app, but I did end up discovering that I have insulin resistance and PCOS and needed to control my carbs and sugar. Cut to today: I feel so good in my body and I’m never going back. This isn’t a post about quitting carbs maybe it’s more about how so many women have insulin resistance without realizing it and about being self-custodial with your body and mind and taking control. But whatever you do, don’t quit. I’m happy to say that I’m debt free now and have some savings too. Lifting weights and following a high-protein diet fixed everything for me. Also, to a large extent, my depression and loneliness.
