I'm heading into week 10 of being non-weight bearing and mostly bedbound because of a broken leg. Got hit by a truck while riding my bike in the middle of May. I've managed to stay in good spirits, but I'm definitely getting antsy to be able to start up physical therapy and relearn to walk. Before the accident, I'd declared this was going to be my Summer of Hermit Adventures. Buying the bike was part of it - sweet cruiser-style bike with an electric pedal-assist motor on it. But it turns out I'm still having a Summer of Hermit Adventures. It just happens to have included discovering /Farcaster and all the wondrous possibilities on web3.

Cyclist here. Sorry to hear about that. What were the circumstances surrounding the truck hitting you?

Truck driver stopped at a stop sign, I had the right-of-way and went, and then the driver wasn't paying enough attention and went while I was right in front of him. He wasn't going very fast, but it was enough to knock me over and cause a shattered tibial plateau that took two surgeries to fix. Thankfully, no other injuries, and the bike made it through unscathed, so I will be able to ride again!

Thankfully, most of the pain had faded after the first few weeks! Still have some tenderness in the calf and I'm sure the pain will flare back up a bit when I am given the clear to start partital weightbearing and rebuilding the muscle - my right leg is now half the size of my left because of muscle atrophy! Fingers crossed my writings get better and better as I heal, too! Definitely not feeling 100%, but sure am better than I was when I was sitting in the hospital!
