I like the term content Universes as you put, though even video games were hard coded into levels and end somewhere. The thing that you are mentioning about here has no limits or end, it has infinite potential to continue, press play and build on any lore via video and characters and take into any direction you want.

At way lesser cost and probably then own that into multiple individual sets of possibilities and sell it in a competitive market by differentiating it.
