The No Kings protests are a direct and patriotic response to numerous statements and actions of Trump that demonstrate his authoritarian desires that would never have been tolerated in the early decades of this country.

I haven't said we've fallen into authoritarian rule, but as I said I can point you to numerous statements and actions that demonstrate Trump's desire to rule as and become a full authoritarian. Are we not supposed to protest until all checks on his power and institutions have fallen? Seems foolish to wait for that.

authoritarians don’t use statements. the “protest” is performative. the fact that it even has a marketing name 😭 in 3 years there will be an election, and someone else will be president.

We had an election 4 years ago that he still denies the result of and pressured his DoJ to lay the groundwork for overturning. How can we be assured that's not going to happen again, especially now that he has installed people willing to be much more loyal to him? He's already taking executive actions to interfere with how States hold their elections, actions that States are having to legally fight and deserve to be protested.
