Tbh. I am considering it.  
We have both invasive European slugs and the local Pacific Slug. The local slugs usually aren't in garden though.

Tbh I just go with Bonide slug and bug killer / sluggo. If you have beneficial slugs it’s not a good idea tho.

Beer traps definitely work. So far the best intervention! 
I find it knocks down the numbers for sure.  Some still manage to miss my traps.

My dad used to bury cups of beer in his garden, he said the slugs love it and they go drown themselves. He used Luigi Italian ice cups filled 3/4 with beer

can’t confirm this worked, especially since I don’t see him doing it anymore.

That's a great attitude. 
You probably know more than you give yourself credit for. I feel like I'm still in early discovery for many plants. (They all have their own particularities)
