I imagine adding real plants might be difficult because of their proximity to the wall.  I  still ask myself if one couldn't cultivate a living plant root environment there?

Waterway engineering is well above my pay grade.

Yah, I think it would be harder to establish plants on a slab of concrete. This is sort of an in between, I’m assuming
