The Index: Elon Musk labeled "arrogant billionaire" by Australian PM for refusing to globally remove videos of Sydney church stabbing from X, despite court order. Musk claims move would allow countries to censor the entire internet.

I think one unspoken angle to Musk's politics on twitter is to let violent footage flow freely, perhaps to alert people to the reality of instances of localised violence - bit alarmist but it's intended result will be more popular demand to clamping down on criminality, exposing the leadership vacuum of politicians.

The more banal reason I imagine is that violent and sensational footage, along with the discourse around said footage, drives engagement, and that can drive ad revenue.

Two birds with one stone imo but definitely reflective of Musk's politics in a "medium is the message" kind of way
