News from Hungary: Orban tried to ban annual the Budapest Pride and it massively backfired. So many people turned out in protest that it was the largest Budapest Pride ever by a mile 🏳️‍🌈 

The background is that elections are next year and Orban is trailing the opposition candidate, Peter Magyar, in the polls. A significant part of the electorate needed to win elections is homophobic and banning Pride was a trap set for Magyar to portray him as anti family if he takes up the issue. Magyar didn't take the bait and stayed away, but the mayor of Budapest stood up and Orban dared not use force to suppress the march.

This was one of the few bits of good news this week. Also loved how politicians from other EU countries showed up in support in one way or the other.
