was always curious about this - is it adjusted simply by the number of followers, or is it adjusted by number of active followers? would be much more representative of real engagement if it, say, didn't count followers who haven't been active in a week+ or so

If you're asking about the rewards leaderboard, It's a function of active followers. Check point 3. It's the cube root of active followers (excluding spam labelled).
