It’s funny, when someone Chinese or   Singaporean wants to flex they take a picture of a skyline or a bullet train.

When an American wants to flex they show you a GDP chart, because nothing they could take a photo of that would impress was built in the past 50 years.

Go back? What do you mean? European infra is better than American, right now. The supposedly ancient cities of Europe seem newer than most American cities founded in the 19th century and still running on WWII-era infra. Just compare the Barcelona and NYC metros.

Fascinatingly enough, the parts of the US that are indeed most impressive compared to Europe are precisely *not* in the coastal elite cities, but in the glorious (and rural) American West.
