Based on the growing debt of the U.S., not clear how leaders stop the death spiral without either lowering interest rates or printing money. Smarter people please explain to me.

The printing must continue for any global reserve currency until the rest of the world decides it is no longer king. For the past 70 years the US did well from this but is now challenged as debt 📈 and geopolitics shift. https://www.investopedia.com/financial-edge/1011/how-the-triffin-dilemma-affects-currencies.aspx

I think the US is aware of this and the ongoing dissolution of unipolarity and likely plans for a cheaper dollar to support reshoring of industry to support domestic consumption and increase exports... for example the permitting of huge amounts of immigrants (aka cheap labor) seems a key ingredient to this.

The dollar will possibly suffer a significant devaluation as this occurs and it will be traumatic for those left holding the bag, but I think the US does well after this transition with all its tremendous natural and human resources.
