I spent half my life playing piano and made the mistake of thinking that with a music education, I’d easily pick up the ukulele and guitar. (P.S. I screamed in frustration that I’d burn that ukulele just so I wouldn’t have to look at it)

By the way, when I was a kid, my piano teacher told me my fingers were too short and thick that’s why I didn’t get into the conservatory
Now I’m trying to teach myself the ukulele, still clinging to the hope that I can do it… though with every attempt, that hope shrinks exponentially

similar transition for me but i quit piano at an early age (russian teacher was too strict) and came back to guitar more organically in high school. something about learning on my own terms was helpful
