This year, the theme of World Environment Day is ‘Putting an End to Plastic Pollution.’
Plastic pollution is no longer just a litter problem, it is deeply intertwined with the triple planetary crisis we face today: climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution.
From the burning of fossil fuels to produce plastic, to the microplastics contaminating our oceans and food chains, the impact is far-reaching and deeply alarming. Plastic chokes marine life, disrupts ecosystems, and contributes to greenhouse gas emissions throughout its lifecycle. What we once considered a convenience has now become a global hazard.
This World Environment Day is a call to action for individuals, communities, industries, and governments to shift towards sustainable alternatives, reduce plastic dependency, and support a circular economy. The time to act is now before the plastic we discard today becomes the crisis we can’t escape tomorrow.
Let’s take a stand. Let’s turn the tide on plastic. 2 replies
