Crescent Lake Oasis is a magnificent slice of spring tucked beside a crescent-shaped lake in the Gobi Desert, about 6 kilometers south of the city of Dunhuang, China. To some, the lake resembles the eye of a beautiful woman; to others, a slice of sweet melon — but no one remains indifferent to the beauty of this natural wonder. A unique wind pattern and underground water sources shaped it in this very spot and have preserved it for thousands of years.
