Super excited to announce the launch of livestreaming on @pinetree! We launched Pinetree on May 1st at FarCon NYC, with the goal of being the best place for casters to create and share long-form videos Now, we're excited to build upon that foundation and add support for live content Thread ๐

๐ช๐ต๐ ๐น๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ป๐ด? I think @yanowitz said it best in a recent Empire podcast episode: "The endgame of social-led distribution of audio and video is two sides of the spectrum -- you have livestreaming and you have short clips." The key here is *distribution*. @giu and I still firmly believe in long-form video as the content form that generates the most value over time, and remains evergreen (hence the name of the company :)) That said, the current information landscape is noisy, messy, and polluted with slop. In order to cut through, you have to bifurcate into real-time community-oriented content (livestreaming) and quick async bursts that can capture attention through the slop (clips) What we want to do with livestreaming on Pinetree is to enable creators to have one place where they can create content that gets distributed and seen, while also converting viewers into subscribers and fans that stick around for the long-term value. We are of course, still in the very early days, but livestreaming is a foundational piece to build the best video platform for creators

๐ง๐ผ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐'๐ ๐น๐ฎ๐๐ป๐ฐ๐ต Today's launch is a soft launch. We've allow-listed a few casters who will be able to stream, in order to iron out the last few kinks in production Once we harden the product a bit, we will open up streaming to everyone shortly (ETA 2-3 weeks most likely). If you want to stream ASAP on Pinetree, DM me, and I'll get you allowlisted If you just want to watch the streams, you can do so in our webapp or in FC via the mini app. There are bound to be bugs, so again, DM me if you run into any issues! It takes a village to ship a great product, and we are relying on the FC fam to help us harden livestreaming before we open it up to more and more people @giu will also be doing a live AMA at 3:30p ET โ tune in: https://pinetree.so/live/giu

๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐'๐ ๐ป๐ฒ๐ ๐? Our strategy at Pinetree has been oriented around durable growth. Most of crypto is focused on short-term hype or price action, and while that offers a nice dopamine hit or quick lottery ticket, it doesnโt generate sustainable value over time This is why we havenโt touched crypto or tokens yet. Not because we donโt see value in it, but because we needed to lay the foundations for the app and build solid video infra. Without this, there is no long-term stability or ability grow on a 10 year time horizon But I think it's time for us to start experimenting with crypto and focusing on driving value to creators -- via tokens and other crypto-native value accrual mechanisms. Public chain infra is fast, cheap, and stable, and beginning to support creator capital markets in earnest We've been watching this space patiently and we have some killer ideas we can't wait to execute on. Stay tuned :)
