An Open Letter to Farcaster Thread [1/4] - Check comments For the people who are paying more attention, it’s not a surprise to say that we are facing a downfall in daily active users, one of the main metrics for the Farcaster team. But why is that happening? First, let me introduce myself. I’m Andrey, a Product Manager who works for a digital bank. I deal with the evolutions of a payment product that generates more than US$10 billion a month in transactions. I believe it was important for me to address the DAU issue because it looks like the metric is getting worse and worse as time passes, and the opposite should be happening due to network effect reasons and improvements in the platform. I don’t want such a cool social media to die, mainly because we don’t have many competitors to Twitter and no other platform has such an intimate relationship with crypto.

[2/4] But now let’s get down to it, for me the main reason why the DAU is going down so much is that Farcaster looks afraid of supporting small users for real. Only the top content creators get the benefits. I’m talking about rewards, presence in the timeline etc. Every recent “feature” that Farcaster has released is about rewarding the people who post the most (usually the people with most followers). And what about the regular user who wants to post once a day or once a week? What is Farcaster building for them? Let’s be real, the last great feature was the in-app wallet. This creates real value to the regular user, not only to the top users.
