oh btw i had the checkup today and 1) he asked me why i don't have kids yet and 2) said "good looking, healthy young people should have babies" even if he's an old fart, which often excuses such comments, a woman doctor would never say that. completely unnecessary interaction i hope my regular dr is back from mat leave next time

Ugh this is why I always refuse male doctors. One time I had strep throat, and I knew it was strep throat because I worked at a day care and got it a few times before already. I went to a private hospital instead of the usual Planned Parenthood bc of my insurance and had a male doctor, he said I was wrong but “would swab me anyway”. Had to wait 3 days to get the results (it was strep throat) then haul my ass over to the pharmacy (no car- had to take the train), in agonizing pain the whole time — couldn’t swallow or eat. Whenever I went to PP they were able to test and give me antibiotics before I left the office, without ever talking to me like I’m an idiot. Never again. I know there are female doctors like this too but the chances are so much slimmer.
