Really thoughtful piece by @reidtandy about mixing coins + limited edition NFTs as a way to support writers on @paragraph while keeping the vibes high and the incentives aligned. It got me thinking: – Can a tiered model (coins + NFTs) balance value and vibes? – What’s the right % mix of “supporter energy” vs “speculator energy”? – Is speculation always a vibe-killer, or does it just need better boundaries? Would love to hear your take: can we design systems that welcome many motivations without losing the magic? https://paragraph.com/@reidtandy/mixing-coins-and-nfts

Reid explores how combining coins and limited-edition NFTs could balance patronage, self-expression, and light speculation. A tiered model could offer different levels of support: from simple tips to collectible NFTs with status value. The key: design systems where support is the primary motivator and speculation stays secondary, without killing the vibes. What do you think?

Ok, let's suppose I open an NFT mint. I cast about the mint on FC. Some people are tipping my cast but they are not minting my piece. Some others are not tipping the cast but they are minting my piece. The third group is minting my piece and also tipping my cast. Is this the model?

Nope, not really. The tiered model was explained in this passage: "Imagine a tiered purchase flow that lets readers choose their level of support (at a post level, maybe that's $1, $5, or $10+). The lowest tier could be for pure patronage, a little tip of appreciation. The middle tier could tap into a little signaling value, providing a 1 of 20 limited-edition NFT. And at the highest tier, we could really lean into badging value, providing a 1 of 3 NFT." It's referring to articles and rewarding supporters of writers with NFTs (and coins).
