Can someone explain to me why requiring an ID for voting in the US is such a controversial topic? Coming from France, it's inconceivable that someone could vote without justifying officially who they are first. I think most countries with ID systems work like that for voting, no? 🤷♂️

you have to claim to be that person, which is committing VOTER fraud, a specific severe fraud for...what. what's the payout your vote counts twice maybe ? it's not worth it...so since it's not happening at any scale, requiring ID only serves to remove people's ability to vote, seems pointless and undemocratic.

Voting fraud is historically a thing, there are countless examples of elections being rigged because of that across the world. Not sure what point you are trying to make here. Being a citizen of the country is a requirement for voting in any country. Being able to prove that seems like a basic requirement 🤷♂️

nah look we had a whole big hoopla about it here, the texas Lt governor even offered $25,000 for proof of each example and after a year there was 1 claim. so what's more important making sure your population can vote in a democracy or arbitrary rules based on feelings and boogymen telling you the other side is cheating
