I think that framing isn't very useful. People don't interact with bitcoin, they interact with Exodus wallet. People don't interact with email, they interact with the Gmail app.

That's a great question. It may be too early to judge if Bitcoin is the "product of the century." Highest appreciating asset of all time, sure, but a "Feed me junk" app like TikTok is more impressive to me.

Ok. I like bitcoin a lot, but should it qualify as a "product of the century" if there are at most... 50,000 people (?) using it *as a product* (developing on it)?

It's a product stack. Gmail is a consumer product on top of an SMTP which is an engineering product.

Not everyone uses Gmail, developers have scripts and services that interact directly with SMTP and for them, the protocol is the product.
