We used to have exchanges with students from The Netherlands and they were more motivated and more competitive, also really proficient in mathematics and English. I’m not surprised.

would they learn german as well? presumably you guys could learn each other's languages fairly well? or just easier to communicate in english?

Dutch often proficient in German, not the other way around afaik. But I live in the South-West, closer to France and Switzerland. Might be different for folks who live up north closer to Benelux countries. But languages teached in school are English, French, (Latin) and Spanish.

Thanks for the generous tip, appreciate you 🙏 I absolutely love visiting France and always feel at home. Mentality is different but I could imagine living there, at the coast though (being landlocked as hell where I live, it’s a dream)😅
